Converting from power adaptor to battery operation?

I am a total noob when it comes to builds and mods so bear with me.
I bought a Barge Concepts VB-Jr which only has a power adaptor option on it.
I know that there are models which also had a 9v battery option.
I hate power adaptors and want to convert it to battery operation only?
Is it as simple as snipping the wires to the adaptor jack and installing a battery jack?

is there room for a battery??.... there's an extra lug on the power jack.... hook the red wire from the batt to it and the black to the ring lug on the input jack

Or you could go this route...I use this all the time with my pedals when I want to run it them with a battery but don't feel like opening them up and installing one.
