Old 1985??? Ibanez pedal problem

Post by Doc Holliday »

Ok, bought this pedal.
Sounds really good and not unlike a 80s TS9.
Although the tone knob sometimes works... and sometimes does not.
If I keep turning it on and off it’ll kick in and work.
This video demonstrates the pedal at first working.
Then after several on and offs it seems to resort to a fixed position regardless where you set the toneknob. It’ll sound that way all around the dial. Then by turning the pedal on and off again a few times it kicks in and works?!

Any ideas how powering the pedal on and off is effecting the tone knob???

Is the pot loose? I found that the pots on my ts9 can come loose and one of the lugs makes contact with the enclosure.

I’ll have a look but I’ve took it apart and didn’t notice anything.
Thanks for the reply

Can't think that the switching would be affecting anything, either a bad pot, bad solder connection or if this uses tantalum for the 220nF on the tone control, that could have gone bad and is working intermittently.
