Hi Bartioloxi, you're referring to a PPI master volume in a Marshall amp ?

I don't know for sure but it does sound to me like the harsh distortion that you hear when an amplifier with a lot of negative feedback finally clips. Of course there is other smoother distortion that happens before that, so it's like one transistor or part of the circuit is not behaving the same way as it does in other pedals (I'm avoiding saying "as intended" because I don't suppose early fuzz pedals were the product of a lot of careful listening to each unit).

On that 100K resistor, did you go up or down ?

thanks

Hi ombudsman, yes i’m referring to PPI master volume.
I replaced 100K resistor with trimpot and fine tuned it by ear, so i went down, i could say it’s somewhere near 80K.

I had a Retroman Lola that did exactly this. Couldn’t dial it out. Luckily I made my money back!

Ive heard that before about the Retroman Lola. Seems that’s the way they were tuned.
