Some Jordan Bosstone information

Hope to get pictures up soon, but don't have a correct card reader at home. I have 5 different Bosstones (and a Mahoney reissue), 2 Alhambras, one Pasadena, one Sho-Sound Nashville, and one Music City Mfg. Co. Nashville.

So it looks like only the early Alhambra version has 2 NPN transistors, the change to an NPN into a PNP occurred before the move ot Pasadena. Here is the trasistor list for each:

Alhambra (early green board both sides):
2N3393, MPS6513 (and a different configuration)

Alhambra later:
MPS5006, SPS5007-2

Pasadena:
2N5223, SPS5007-2

Sho-Sound:
2N3565, M924/95232

Music City Mfg. Co.:
MPS6513, 2N4249

So they are all over the place, and the two from Nashville look to be similar PCBs and all but the ones in California are not similar other than the case. It is a very interesting pedal.

Which one is hairiest? Hey Chris, did you see the Rogue Fuzz I picked up last month?

The initial Alhambra with two NPN transisotrs is the most biting. The change to a PNP transistor seems to have been to get it from the edge of oscillation and tame it some.

Saw the Rogue, it looks interesting, Bart thought it might have some connection to the Hohner Tri Dirty Booster, as the case has a similar look and setup.

Works for me, but in the end there will be some good pictures that might want to go to the other section. They all look the same from the front, but the back and guts help you tell them all apart.

my sho-bud bosstone has different tranny's
a TS 3564 (ITT)? and another one that is totally blank but is green on the top and has green, blue and white lines on the back.
I'll post pics tonight when i get home from work.

here's my three vintage ones.... i've got a mahoney too. the alhambra one is quite biting and a bit thin like a fuzzrite.... the pasadena one sounds awesome nice and fat but with a great high end grind... the music city one is a bit darker but maybe the most saturated, the mahoney sounds identical to this music city one. mahoney knows what he's doing!! not enough room for the closups.... see next post

Great shots! The Alhambra (early) ones seem to have one less resistor than the others, not sure if it is one fewer cap also, but could be.

I will have to do a bunch of shots of the Creator and Vibrasonic next...
