Man, I've wanted an original FF for ages, but this is exactly what scares me off. I imagine most of the units still being shifted around are on the market because they sound some degree of shit. :freak: :bangs head: :bangs head:
I guess the problem with Fuzz Faces is that they cheaped out. The carbon comps often drift and the Bulgin switches are prone to failure. The Sola Sound MK1.5s they cloned were a lot better with carbon film resistors and Arrows.

Dennis Cornell claims he selected the transistors for Arbiter back in the day and that he actually auditioned them for a long, smooth decay and long sustain.
Everything is transitional.

Going thought some older photo in an attempt to be a little more active on social media, and though this one may be appreciated here

Old JMI MK2 with a duff DSI OC81D, switched out for a new board with some era correct components (Big thanks to Steve at PigDog for the help with getting those caps!)

Got to love that JMI board, trim pot on top of other components is a stroke of genius :zgrin:

The brilliant Trim Pot is curiously absent from the replacement board... Such a shame- that was some tight shit! :hihi:

^ That's the beauty of the JMI design - you can always just solder the wind flapper on later!
