small amp shoot out

Post by jerms »

here are 3 clips of 3 small amps... 58 fender champ, 59 gibson les paul jr amp, and a supro super.... the first has the volumes on about 1/3 rd with a 58 les paul jr guitar.... second is the same amp settings with a 66 jazzmaster, and last is with the jazzmaster but the volumes are up to 3/4ths

Man, that Gibson is nice and bright and kinda fuzzy. I like it.
The Supro is darker than I expected but I really like the grind (I just snagged a Gretsch branded one of those).
The Champ is killer, but I think I like the Gibson the best.
You have some nice toys Jim.
Dear Bongo, No.
Good deals with all these guys

the supro is daves.... dan has one too, but it was broke that nite, 'tis fixed now tho :hihi: ..... yeah the gibby is quite the amp!! really kicks it in the midrange and grinds real nice when you crank it, it's smooth smooth smooth! the champ is the loudest of the bunch, bassier and crispier than the rest! those supros are special little guys too a bit quieter but really nice....

I'm pretty sure the Supro, a '63 - is all original/bone stock and could possibly use a cap job - at least a check up...
It also doesn't sound like it's turned up quite as loud as the other two.

I demand a rematch!! (after a basic tune-up for the Supro) :zgrin:
If you struggle baby,
It only tightens up...

Hi, can you tell us something about the speakers in these amps? That could explain some of the major differences of course
Thanks for the clip!
