Jerms FZ-1 demo

Post by HorseyBoy »

Had a little time today to play with Vonetta McGee, my new Jerms FZ-1, so I knocked up some quick and dirty demos - it's a garage fuzz, so quick and dirty seemed the way to go. I don't have a proper USB interface so it's just straight into Garageband through an Apogee Jam. It uses amp models instead of real amps and the bass is just my Jazzmaster knocked down an octave, but it worked surprisingly well and I think it captures the bratty buzziness of the pedal:

I was having so much fun I also did a cover of Lynn Castle's real-life psychedelic tale of a hairdresser who flew too close to the sun, "The Lady Barber" (produced and released by Lee Hazlewood on his LHI label in 1968). Again, straight into Garageband and the vocal is just sung into the built-in mic of an iMac, but the fuzz sounds are pretty sweet:

To nobody's great surprise, the pedal is an absolute blast to play - lovely gated rasp and the notes bloom and decay just beautifully.

EXCELLENT!!

nice FZ-1 Toans!! :crackjam:

You have a cool voice - kinda reminds me of early Brian Eno (c.73-4).
Would like to hear Baby's On Fire with FZ-1 solo! heh

or maybe Port of Amsterdam would be cool...(i know, Eno didn't do that one) :hihi:

My pleasure, Jim! Thanks for building such a dang cool pedal. Playing through a couple of different amps today and she LOVED a little goosing from my Rat pedal when I wanted a tad more sustain. Worked great with a phaser, too - really thick sound.

Thanks, Davey. You obviously missed my Ghost Effects Warmjet V cover of Eno's "Seven Deadly Finns":

Belted that one out with a severe head cold :crackjam:
