applied banshee fuzz and conrad buzz box volume expander

Post by jerms »

here's a comparison between the applied and a conrad buzz box.... strange circuit that blends the fuzz into the straight signal.... leaves the clean signal in there and just add fuzz to it.... pretty clever to keep the lowend while the buzzy fuzz is going.... these are also a similar circuit to the goya fury box....

You know how the Banshee fuzz sounds blown out and farty compared to the Conrad? I think that's because the lack of bypass in these circuits. Even when the fuzz on the Conrad is switched "off" the signal is still going through the first transistor stage which is pretty far from linear and is probably overdriving the input of the Banshee too. I bet you'd see a lot more similarities sonically between the two if they were patched into a true bypass looper.

The Bean-Sidhe shitbox, the Conrad sounds pretty damn cool too.
Kind of like the cheap man's Maestro & Fuzzrite. Love 'em.

Love that Conrad and Redeye's playing is always stellar. Twisted whammy action. :tu:
