Baby 1966

Post by stella_blues » Wed Feb 21, 2018 1:30 pm

Scored this little beastie off EBay the other week. A cool little piece of Dam history , think it deserves it’s own thread

Smooth, dynamic, fluid violin like sustain, amp like characteristics, warm organic tonez - nope. A blind wolverine on PCP flying a fully loaded B-52 into the side of a volcano, the soundtrack to said event would be Stand Up and Shout by Dio - yes.

Is TASTYSPLIFFS a member here? I want to hang with that guy!

Nice 1966! Can you get super bright with the filter turned up?

^ :hihi:

Great score man, love how you can get different shades of 66 with the filter knob, this must be the most versatile 66 out there

Thanks guys, pretty chuffed to have landed this little beauty :freakout:

yes the filter works kind of like the old Dragnflys....full left gives a stock 66 treble vibe and full right being bassier like the super bee mode with various shades inbetween. Of the three 66's pictured the baby is the most aggressive with the older 08 not too far behind, it's like a raspier fuzz face, has a great bite but still a full bottom end without venturing into woolly territory.
It doesn't clean up like the 2017 model, that thing goes crystal clean with a small vol roll off, the baby has some fantastic nearly clean overdrivey tones lurking when you play with the guitar volume.

There's also a matching mini MKII out there somewhere.....

Wow, cool!

Did you have to fight hard to win it on eBay?

Thanks man :tu:

Bizarrely enough no, only two bidders and two bids. Got lucky as I think it went under most radars  :freakout:
