The Bar-Kays, "Black Rock" from 1971. Underrated record in the same mould as early Temptations/Funkadelic psychedelic funk/soul/rock, with some really, really nice guitar sounds (fuzz AND wah!) from Michael Toles. Maybe not a classic, but it's a very solid album, with only one notable misstep (a version of "Montego Bay", which is kinda horrible, as is every version of "Montego Bay"). The opening minutes should let you know what you're in for.
