Suggested interim pedals while waiting for the Fuzz Sound

Post by edoetsch »

I am way down the line on getting mine. 4.5 years or something.

What's a good current pedal to look into whilst waiting?

Soul Bender from Fulltone can be picked up reasonably now and might be worth something in a half decade. How about this one?

Any others come to mind?

From the tests I made yesterday ryan's pedal (skin pimp MKIII and buzzaround) are fuzzier on the top end.. .very different from dave's take.
That said, skinpimp's mkIII is a good pedal, seriously powerful and i definitely would suggest this one! I have 3 Skin pimps atm... ;)

i've never tried a soulbender... anyone has thoughts on this one?

This ought to be a good thread.

I'll throw my hat in the ring and suggest a one knob MH, not because it sounds like a MK III but because it is a genius design and sounds bad-ass in its own right. Go for the B&G model! :badteeth:

I'd have to say a Rotosound MKIII would do the trick! :marx:

Hey edoetsch,

how do you know that it is long time waiting for your Fuzz Sound MKIII???
I am on the waiting list too but the caiptain never told me where on the list or how long it will take.
Is there anything I missed? Am I still on the waitlist? (confusion)

Soulbender is a good sounding fuzz.
Not as authentic as Dave's and some of the other guys building MKIII's,
but they are full sounding, loud and possess a nice gain character.
Having tried Sickle's Fuzz Sound (thx again!) I will say that
the Fuzz Sound really does that circuit best,
but a Soulbender gets you in that direction and will give you some perspective until you get teh D*A*M.
There's no wait on them either as they can be found in the emporiums and on ebay.
What gets me is all the tweaking,

Or you could buy my Earthquacker Decives Tone Reaper.
The equalization is quite different from the FS but sounds good none the less.

The Skinpimp MkIII Skinbender is a great fuzz. A really beautiful sounding pedal.
So's the Tone Reaper.
But I've never played an original MkIII or a FuzzSound to compare...
Dear Bongo, No.
Good deals with all these guys

Sickle wrote:Try a Buzzaround clone from Skin Pimp or Creepy Fingers. Both are excellent builders. The Buzzaround and original MK III TB circuit aren't too far apart in circuit and tone. I'd suggest a Skin Pimp MK III, but the Buzzaround clone I got from Ryan is a little closer to the Fuzz Sound than the MK III's of his I've had(three so far).
I'm glad to hear that the Skinpimp pedals are being mentioned. I just ordered a buzzaround last week, saying that it's close to the Fuzz Sound just makes me really happy I chose this one.
