"Touch Me I'm Sick"

Post by jimi_dylan »

What fuzz is features most prominently in Mudhoney's 1988 single "Touch Me I'm Sick"?

Wiki says it is a Big Muff http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Touch_Me_I%27m_Sick . However, to me it sounds more Stooges-like, as if it is a Fuzzrite. Anybody know? Germanium or Silicon?

To me, and I'm no expert, it sounds like a Big Muff, but I could be dead wrong.

Before someone post the answer to the question, I would like to post my guess.
1. Big Muff
2, super fuzz
3. I read somewhere that they used Ibanez soundtank FUZZ.
(plastic made pedal, looks like a cockroach)

Describe this standard fuzz you speak of. Is that an actual name of a fuzz? That'd be cool. I think when you're amongst the likes of this board there's no such thing as the "standard" fuzz.

Apt diction IMO. I really like that fuzz tone. Thanks for the input everyone!

I've suddenly developed a curiosity for late 80s alternative bands.

i'm gonna guess that it's both a Big Muff & a Super Fuzz...just a wild guess...
...the quicker riff that starts the song off being the Big Muff and the other guitar that plays a more sustained part and the solo...

My guess is that they liked the combination of those two together, thus naming the album as such...

Gotta love their choice of budget guitars, Fender Mustang & Hagstrom II... :multigreen:

Ha Har! There be the answer. I'm 95% sure Mr. Arm was using a Grey Univox Super Fuzz first time I saw them...I was 15 at the time and very drunk so I might be wrong.

Ahh those were the days, Mudhoney at the Bristol Bierkeller, supported by Hole, 1990 or 1
Earsplitting crazy fun, but was far to busy to look at the pedals back then

Ha! That was the same tour! Yes Hole is support, they were very good. Courtney Love's stage "stance" was a little distracting to say the least. :hihi:

Man, what a great album! I have not listened to it in years. Pretty sure I got it on vinyl. Gotta go dig it out! :headbanger:

Great live band. I was too young and too much into having a good time to pay attention to their gear.
