Did you contact Chris to let him know about the noise? He has really super customer service so it may be worth sending him a quick email so he can take a look at the pedal.

Voodoo Labs, Mahoney, I thought Brad made one as well ( could be wrong on that one )

I believe the Voodoo Labs "Superfuzz" is their current take on the Bosstone, but they did make a regular 2-knob one years ago.
Always meant to try one, but I find their pedals kind of ugly. I'm a snob though.
