I have been in search of the few production DAMs that I am not on waitlists for and in my research have found some concerns for the Drag'n'fly with a Tele.(a bit icepicky) This led me to wonder if any others have concerns with DAMs paired with Teles. I have greatly pared down my gear and have only a Tele(which I highly favor) and a Strat through a fairly clean, transparent American voiced handwired amp.(very pedal friendly) I absolutely love my dark Titan with this setup. The only DAMs that I have been skeptical of owning are the Drag'n'fly and Meathead(something about silicon that I usually don't dig) but I have been leaning towards picking up a Fly lately. I just wanted to address my concerns before making the purchase. I appreciate any input.

Hmmm, for me thus far D*A*M plus tele set up has proved the most succsesful pairing of all!

I found humbuckers/les pauls to more problematic, usually mud being the main issue.

Don't forget the Drag 'n' Fly has very versatile controls, ask smogfalls about the tele/drag combo, i get the impression it's one of his favourite guitar/pedal combinations.

That's encouraging to hear and actually what I suspected. It just goes to show that one cannot believe everything they read.

I was never crazy about Si fuzz either but MH and DNF are killer pedals, and work great with my Tele.

hehe, yeah that's spot on Philip. The Drag n' Fly is my #1 fuzz and it sounds better with my Tele than with my Les Paul, Strat, SG or Casino!... I guess it all comes down to the amp you run it through. In trying the D'n'F with my Deluxe Reverb I agree that it can sound a bit harsh and scooped, but thats just the nature of those American amps, which works great for clean stuff, but for dirt and fuzz, you can't beat a Marshall or a Vox in my opinion.
I run my fly into a cranked, medium gain Marshall (2204 or a 2555SL)... and through both it sounds glorious. No ice pick at all, just smooth, thick, chewy mid humped syrup!

Sorry I can't be more helpful. All I can suggest is that when running the Fly through a Fender-esque amp, try setting it with the attack backed off to around 2 o'clock then boost it with a mid hump OD of your choice. Or place an EQ pedal after it to tame some of the highs and add some mids, aswell as boosting the gain a touch; because in my opinion, the Fly sounds best on top of an already dirty amp/signal.

single coils are more articulate to use with fuzz pedals.
bucker mids plus thick fuzz = THICK

Treat the od pedal as the amp and put a fuzz into it.
easy peasy jap'o'neasy.
