Re: jerms pepbox
The Jerms Pep Box is FANTASTIC! Oh, and it's VERY LOUD!
It is a very close relative to my FZ-1A Fuzz Tone. They both have the raspy, sawtooth edged fuzz that I love soooo much. The Fuzz Tone emphasises the treble side of the fuzz without much midrange while the Jerms shows of a fuller bodied midgrange fuzz with just the right amount of high end. The Fuzz Tone has an unpredictabe splatty gate to some of the notes while you can count on the Jerms to put the gate in the right place to make it sound like the speaker is ripping. The Jems cleans up beautifully with the guitar's volume knob while the Fuzz Tone didn't. Oh, did I mention it's LOUD!
I've never played a FZ-1 but I'll have to do some digging on the forum to see what the differences are between it and the FZ-1A so I can learn what the Pep Box is doing differently.
Now to try it out next to my Basic Audio Zippy!

Re: jerms pepbox
Excellent comparison 2guests I facking loveses me pepbox too
I've nearly convinced myself that this was the fuzz used for the riff on 'come see me' - gets much closer than a MkI to my ears and the date would be just about right too ('65). It's absolutely awesome on bass, really grindy/gnarly/dirty/twisty badass!
They are indeed truly loud beasts, volume control works like an extra tone control - adds loads of mid and bottom end.
Great!
