have you tried Jamup Pro (positive grid) for the iPad Philip? i think they have a sale on at the moment for some packs, good amp sims and you can also get an 8 track recorder with it, then you can import your clips into garageband etc

I tried out the free app with the basic Vox amp. Quite impressed with basic sound, sounds more real than GarageBand amp sims.
