hmmm- anyone got those early '70 Beat Instrumentals ? I think it's probably fair to say 1969 as a starting point . We moved from London to Brighton in 1969 - It would be proper Macari style to do lots of things at the same time - move house - make new pedals - get a new dog ( actually that was the year before - my Dad took him in part exchange for a piano )

I did, which is where my scans come from, but sold them.

Production beginning in 1969 in time for 1970 Frankfurt trades fair and advertisements makes sense. Surely pot codes and the like would help here?

1969/70 for sure though.

The MkIV has a tonal palette with a wider range...
Although they are different beasts under the hood, the MkIV can roughly approximate a MkII sound.
(of course with subtle differences)
And with the third knob, (Treble/Bass) you have much tonal control to go brighter or bassier.
"Fuzz" on max probably has a bit more sustain & a touch smoother than the MkII. Love 'em both.
If you struggle baby,
It only tightens up...

The huge difference for me from a playing point of view is that a MKIV dosent clean up like a MKII or 1.5

I would recommend owning them all :)

I would say through my experience with old ones, my one MarkIV, does not clean up well where the other one does, and both can nail MKII type tones and then some...
