Rotosound Fuzz no. 2
Made by Sola Sound, this has the MkII Tone Bender circuit with OC81Ds. No 10nF cap to ground at the input in this one though.

no it's "just" an MKII with the Attack control differently labeled I believe.
interestingly, both OC81D Rotosounds we know (the other one is in a cast "Fuzz Box" enclosure") don't have the cap between input and ground, just like the small board units. Maybe they were running out of caps towards the end of production and just left it away?

Nice! Was this poorbob's, or a different one?
...so my Vox MkII Pro must be around the same time as this beastie, then? I'm guessing mine has cap to ground @ input, but otherwise the same...how would you say that affects the overall sound?
...Stu, have you figured out about when this puppy was made?

I guess yours might be a bit earlier, but that's pure speculation on my part.psycho*daisies wrote:...so my Vox MkII Pro must be around the same time as this beastie, then?...i'm guessing mine has the output cap, but otherwise the same...how would you say that cap affects the overall sound?
The cap should tame the high end a bit.

thanks, EW...
does the gold Roto (Fuzz Box) have all the same exact parts as this one?

no, the gold one is much earlier (same as the early Supas). The silver one is exactly the same as Stu's.

You don't want to hear my playing, believe me. Perhaps Philip would oblige?stopmaykinsense wrote:Clips?????? Maybe with the SG Stu?
No, poorbob's was a 3-knobber with the MkIII circuit; I got this one from Australia. If I had to guess, I'd say it dates from late '68, but there are no date-coded parts. As EW said, the cap at the input in the Vox tames the high end, but the difference is more subtle than you might expect.psycho*daisies wrote:Nice! Was this poorbob's, or a different one?
