Err, I'm sure I didn't dream this...?
In the mid-late 80's I can vividly recall someone lending me a pedal, with an option to buy.
For the life of me, I'm sure it was called a Stone Overdrive. It was in a heavy, large metal enclosure (possibly white) and had a single valve inside which was visible through some vents in the case. It sounded a little grainy (which might be why I didn't buy it?) and I can also recall some guy pointing at it and saying "Hey! Stone Overdrive! You're a man after my own heart!" which suggests he owned one.
Now, of course, I wish I'd bought it. I remembered about it recently but I can't seem to find ANY info at all online?
Also, in the mists of my mind, I may have been told (or read) that it was a DIY kit pedal (although that bit may be my mind playing tricks).
I can see it now, the word STONE was in a 70's looking bubble font.
Can anyone shed any light on the above, or am I just daft?

You haven't missed that muchpeps1 wrote:What is that SAX FX unit like, never even seen one IRL?
A "multi FX" supposed to be used with a Saxophone (via a Stone Audio Sax Preamp http://www.effectsdatabase.com/model/stone/sax/preamp ):
- Octaver (lower) : bad guitar tracking
- ADT : best part
- VCF : fixed frequency centered filter
That's it :-)
Bought it bundled with a Maestro USS-1

There is also a VPA-2:
Stone VPA-2 Pre-Amp/Tone Control
They are on eBay sometimes (5 VPA-1 auctions and 10 VPA-2 auctions in the last 5 years), I bid on a few of those but never won.
I also have such a Sax FX Unit (needs a little work) and it came with the Sax Pre-Amp:
