Vintage Jen Porn
I received two Jen Phasers in the mail today from the UK, which look very nice next to my Jumbo Fuzz. I don't think these are particularly sought after, but I'm a big fan of phasers and these are in very nice shape and sound good. The Motorphaser is sort of like a Leslie simulator, in that the chorus/tremolo is a speed/ramping control. The fact that it doesn't have any knobs is a little weird, but makes it unique. For some reason, when I hit the bypass switch to turn the effect off on that one, I get nothing, which is kindof a bummer. Anyone have any ideas as to what the problem might be? I'd rather not have to ship it off for a repair.

Hi - those the ones we were talking about a few weeks back - he was a friendly enough guy eh? that Motorphaser is cool too! Like I said to you I had its big brother the Jen Vario Spectra - also no Knobs but FIVE!! stompswitches and a huge box only mains powered which didnt suit me at all - a slightly more flexible leslie sim - even down to the slight speeding up and slight slowing down - kind of a timelag like on true leslies as the motor got up to speed - when first switching in or out. Looks like its in good nick too!

Bad footswitch, huh? Damn! I bought these from the ebay seller "bluefilmwibble." He was pretty cool and I haggled with him a bit. Kinda lame that I'm going to have to replace the footswitch. Makes me think that he might not have tested them. Ah, well, my tech owes me a favor, so hopefully it will just cost me shipping to get it fixed.
Graham, I looked up the Jen Variospectra on Discofreq's site. Crazy! Any idea what those go for and how rare they are?
Also, I forgot to mention that the Phaser Shifter came with the original box!

That Jumbo Fuzz is killer! I got it from Circles, although I think he may have changed his user name when the new forum opened. Anyway, the Jumbo has a gate built in, which is great because you don't have standard feedback issues when you stop playing and the pedal is still engaged. Great tone. I actually used it on a recording, but it's not finished yet.eastcoast wrote:Nice set. They look like they were made a year ago. Those rotosounds are definitley funky. Hit the footswitch to ON mode, them with a small cable try to bring the effect on by connecting 2 of the 4 terminals, try them by order... 1>2...1>3... 1>4... then 2>1... and so on... if the the effect comes on, it is a damaged footswitch, it seems you can open it, i see screws there, open it, carefull and clean it and try again, there isn't much inside a footswitch to get damaged so you probably can fix it by clean it. I tell you this because you might want to save the original footswitch (and this one is not sealed so it can be opened), your tech can test the footswith in a professional way with a multimeter... but have this in mind... you or he can probably save this one.Bad footswitch, huh? Wow, I'm digging on that motorphaser. I like chorus and phasing too, so it looks very interesting. It will be interesting to hear it recorded.
Never argue with an idiot, they bring you down to their level and beat you with experience

That's me- Glad you're still digging it! Definitely had a cool tone - glad I got to record with it while it was here.TheWarmth wrote:That Jumbo Fuzz is killer!
