Most likely the tape is to keep leads plugged in during crazy on-stage antics. I do the same at energetic gigs.

seems likely Jim

lately I’m listening to live shows from early 1968 when Roger Mayer was supposedly on board. Mayer says an octavia was used for a few gigs in that time period. Haven’t heard it yet but man Jimi’s wah playing is outstanding on these shows! One really cool thing is how he uses it to simulate a fast leslie sound for the little wing solo.

I also hear he wasn't really using Marshall amps, they were Fenders. :hihi:

That's what I have read too, at least for the recording of "Voodoo Chile" it was a fender bassman.

Saville Theatre Strat (I think). Image is flopped, because it was a right handed one. :banger:

its interesting how close that is to the monterey strat he sacrificed. the story about jimi wanting a white strat but the could only find red so he spray painted it seems a bit suspect now. who knows of course but these two guitars are similar enough that it looks planned.

His black Strat with rosewood neck was his favourite at the time I read.
March 67 was the first time he set his guitar on fire followed by monterey in the June.
He had repaired guitars for the final song before he burned them up.
