I dont know how the US patent system works and please correct me if Im wrong, but just looking at the documentation and pics of US manufactured wahs with both "patent pending" and "patented" written on the bottom plate, some US made wahs might have been in production before 1970 :coffee:
Bradley J. Plunkett worked for Warwick Electronics who owned the Thomas Organ Company, so Im guessing the "patent pending" and "patented" inscription refers to this particular patent.

Patent documents filed Feb 1967 and issued Sept 1970:

it's just so much b.s.

maybe hendrix had a usa vox wah. but he didn't use it at woodstock. are there any pics of him with a badge front wah? missing badge or not?
the mods are probably recent too. any evidence that hendrix conquered wah/fuzz interaction in his last year? seems he got noisier lol.
and it's not really his live wah tone that people are trying copy. everyone wants rainy day or other studio sounds.

the whole evolving story aspect makes me question all of it. it might be a super super early usa vox wah (1968?) but i doubt jimi signed/dated it and had it modded.

The thing is though, the "Hendrix" wah seems to have the "patented" marking on the bottom plate as in the video below (you can barely see it but its there), I still dont get how Hendrix could have used a wah with a patent granted 4 days after he died :rolleyes2:

I'm guessing these were very close in age
To make things more complicated: Who says they would have stopped importing italian wahs when they started making them in the US? They could have been in production concurrently.
Everything is transitional.

Some of my favorite music was made with a Dunlop Jimi Hendrix wah.
