Vintage Bass Octave Pedals Whats What?

Intereted in "clean" octave down pedals only...Bluebox style is not for me.
Ive used a Mutron, Paia Roctave, the bass setting on Maestro Rhythm & Sound versions 1 &2, Version 1 EH Microsynth,Boss OC-2 (was there ever an OC-1?), and an Arion.
I've also tried to use a Frequency Analyzer as a fake bass Octave and failed.
My Question is what else is out there?
I am interested in the Maestro OB-1 how does it compare the Rhythm & Sound Bass setting?
What is the best what is underrated what is overrated etc etc...

If you don't mind digital here's the EXH HOG or POG.
The EHX Octave Multiplexer can be pretty good.
Boss OC3 is actually pretty good, especially if you're just faking a bassline.
Best of the bunch for analog would be the Foxrox Octron, which does octave up and down



All bets are off if you really want to keep it vintage though.

The Pearl OC-07 is a great octave pedal, does 1-up, 1-down and 2-down.
I tried the Octron as well (based on the Pearl I believe) and found it's quite ‘glitchy’ more so than the Pearl, especially on the low strings (using it on guitar btw).

Myself, I’m looking for the Pearl KOT-401 Octave V but they’re somewhat rare and hard to track down.

^ Another vote for the Pearl. I had a bunch of Pearl pedals in the 80s (they were cheap as chips back then) and the Octaver was a real standout.

There’s also the Ibanez OT-10, Yamaha Octaver and the Multivox SE-4 Big Jam octave, has a 1/5th down option, very cool indeed.

So after some internet digging I turned up this oddity...no idea what it sounds like but I was thinking the same thing about why aren't bass octave pedals just one blend knob.
Obviously, I want one of these if anyone is holding or knows more info?

There is also the DOD Octoplus but I don't know anything about it.
Wish there was a small box version of the Mutron that had the green ringer footswitchable instead of the dumb "bass only".

After filters, octavers were one of the first types of pedals on Effects Database and I have quite a lot of old (though often cheap) octavers :D

Korg, not Pearl ;-) On my wish list as well, the only problem is that you need the PME-40X to put the module in (also interested in a few other modules, but still annoying :D).

There is also the DOD Octoplus but I don't know anything about it.

I don't know about the FX35 Octoplus, but I have the Performer series 535-A Octoplus. I haven't used it in years, but I thought the octave signal had a kind of harder attack which other pedals don't have. I saw less than 5 of those on eBay in the last 15 years, but there was one a few days ago! (probably bought by a reseller by the amount of feedback he has, so it might pop up again)

The Big Jam is very cool! The DOD 535-A Octoplus also has a 5th (down?). The T-Rex Quint Machine has a fifth up.

The Exar OC-03 and OC-04 have -2, -1 and +1 like the Pearl (I'm not sure if it was the Exars or the Pearl which I didn't like because the higher octave is too soft).

I still have to look for the Ibanez OT-10... Thanks for reminding me ;-)

A cheap Polish pedal from the 90's with -1 and +1 octave, the +1 is a little fuzzy that I really like. Since they were so cheap on Polish auction sites 10-15 years ago I bought several of them (and of the older KOD NG-07 Octaver which does -1 and -2), probably 5 or more :D (I gave 1 to Sir_H_C).

I think it is and it also uses a big audio jack for the power supply input, that's why I didn't use it for a long time (never the right power supply at hand :D)

It's brown though, not black :D
