[LIKE ME, IT'S JUST TOO HOT] LuciferRising problem

Post by rootfifthoctave »

I"ve not had it very long, played it a couple of times in the past two weeks, then today I plug it in and it's HEAVILY gated, to the point where barely any sound is getting through. Just sputtering out and dying. I tried it with battery, PSU, different guitars, same thing. The indicator LED is fine.

It's a hot, humid day here, but it's the UK, not Italy or California, so it's not deathly hot. I'm not having a problem with other germanium stomps. Could it just be that it's a hot, humid day? I'm worried because I was really digging it the other day and it cost a fair bit :scared:

I'd be grateful for any help/advice I can get!

What PSU were you using? these are positive ground so need isolated power supply, have you been using it with a battery or power supply for the last couple of weeks?

Oh, shit the bed  I've had it plugged into my powerplant jr with everything else. I forgot this was the one fuzz I have that's +gnd. Have I fucked it? It's out of warranty by a couple of months. I feel so damn stupid :ohno:

Plug it back with an isolated source; it should be fine...

Tried with a good battery, it isn't fine. I don't know much about electronics but I have a multimeter and tested some continuity points. I'm not hopeful. It's probably time to send a grovelling email to somebody cleverer than me.

Probably a good time for this emoji :punchself:

I know my Lucy starts gets grumpy over 75F. Try putting it in the fridge for 10 minutes and try it again

When my Brickbender came in the post i had the same problem. Popped it in the fridge for a bit, sorted. Tape echos are another thing i have found don't like warm humid weather.
