HH Scott 299B!!!

Post by jerms »

finally got my late dad's 1960 HH Scott 299B integrated amplifier up and running... had a dead channel.... it runs on the 7189 power tube... a souped up EL-84 that takes higher voltages... i'm stuffing it full of mullard and wima capacitors.... just waiting on a few caps to finish the phono and tone controls.... this thing sounds incredible!!!!! played Comes A Time by NY and it practically brought me to tears.... sounded like neil was singing in the corner of the room! and i heard things i hadn't really noticed before!!! i think i'll be listening to more music!!!!

Thanks for posting! I love these old things, never had a chance to get a working one - always some junk that needs work and I obviously don't have the chops (or know anyone locally) who is able to do the job.

You are going to love that amp! Music will sound better. It's a '60 or '61 model, right?
