Re: Fuzz Face Porn
I really need to sit down and get to grips with the Fuzz Face. I have a Dunlop blue enclosure rebuild by Zack (fuzzface6669) with NKT272s, carbon comps, UK pots, etc etc.
How do you guys run the controls on yours? I find that to keep mine from turning to complete mud I need to run the volume at about 70%, the fuzz at 90% and roll back my guitar’s volume to about 9. That gets me into Hendrix territory, with a mildly cranked 5E3 deluxe.

With Ge FF’s, I run both flat out then use my guitar volume. With an Si, I back off the gain a tad, you can actually hear the change in the last 7% or so of the gain travel. I usually set just before the bacon frying sound and use the volume on the guitar. Both ways let me go from a sparkly light drive to a meaty OD to full out wall of fuzz. I love the FF. For some reason, I just haven’t been able to warm up with anything that has three transistors:)

Cheers! It does seem to sound better the higher the volume. I always thought that FFs were just a bit flubby, I’m so used to easy plug and go fuzzes.Idle South wrote: ↑Sun Apr 29, 2018 1:39 am With Ge FF’s, I run both flat out then use my guitar volume.
