And what's this "The other three Mk1's that J Mascis didn't buy" ?? Does that mean J bought the D Main built Sola Mk1 since the other three all show in stock?

He really seems to have had two and one of them was gold.

I'd bet that the gold one is a Mk1.5. I built one last year, and I thought it was closer to the Yardbirds-era Page sound than anything else I've tried. Do any of those photos with the gold one pre-date the December 1966 Sola invoice?

Were the original 1.5's gold like the ones nowadays? I thought they were just built in a standard type sola enclosure, a slightly different hue but not as gold as the modern ones?

The two or so known ye olde gold's look gold gold, a bit darker due to age etc. Not really any different from MKI's.
