Thanks. Never seen that one before, but that should be from May 1969.

The earliest I have ever seen him use it is the March '68 French tv appearance. I don't think there has ever been another photo surface showing it earlier, but I'm digging through my archives and the web for anything earlier, to be sure I have it in the timeline correct. Led-zeppelin.org states Jimmy first used it August 24th 1966, but gives no info as to where they got that date.

Yeah that is Becks Les Paul. He was 'sick' for that and several other shows.

There are photos from a small gig in which it appears he is using a tone bender shortly before that date. No pictures of him using one from before December 1966. There's a few from various dates in 1967.

The led zep website mentioned above is just assuming that he used a tone bender from the moment he switched from bass to guitar.

Only the amps are rented and yes it's Jeff's les paul.
