New Greasebox GB83s with Germanium.....?

Post by chatmatt »

A guy from ebay is messaging me regarding my GB83 listing, insisting that David is bringing the GB83 back from the dead but with germaniums this time, and that a shop near him has confirmed that they are getting them soon.
Am I totally out of the loop on this?? I can't find a post here about it anywhere..
Anyone.. ?

I insisted the he must be confusing the GB80 and 83 and we went back and forth several times.

"dam said they are shipping the new ones real soon to my buddys shop and they will be germanium, they will be called 83 but with germanium instead of silicon, guess most people prefer germanium."

Very high bullshit possibility.. but I figured I'd ask just in case..

"Joe's" is taking orders for the GB-80 not the GB-83. Not sure when they will be built but this could be what's confusing the guy. I would like to hear a Germanium GB-83 I wonder if there would be a drastic difference between silicon and germanium's.

:hmm:

Due to the whatever is happening happening with pedalenclosures I made a joke with Joe, and maybe even mentioned in here?, about doing the GB-87. Basically making the 80's but in a different enclosure, maybe he is referring to that?

I thought that was what differentiated the 80 and the 83 was the transistors. :hmm:

We only have a GB-80 list at Tommy's Guitar Shop. A super long list... :banger:

GB-83's have been sold out for a long time.

He probably got his info twisted around, if he spoke with us. :zombiehuh:

We definitely know the difference between the two builds.

And are there any chances we see a hybrid design one day? GB-803/GB-81.5, anyone? :crackjam:

I posted this in another GB-83 thread.
The way things worked out I was using a GB-83 after a TB-00 for a vol boost and crazyness. Sounded OK afte a few beers at least.
Maybe a combo pedal like that.
