Sold my 40s Stewart archtop (with DeArmond FHC) and my tanglewood acoustic so I could buy the ultimate Lightnin' Hopkins machine.....

1954 Harmony H40!!

That's a modified Gibson P13 under the end of the fretboard, I believe these things actually beat the Gibson J160e to the market.

This is all kinds of awesome!! Nice score man. Didn't hopkins use a j-45 with a dearmond soundhole pickup?

LIghtnin used whatever he could get his hands on! His guitar of choice in the 60s was usually a Gibson flat top and DeArmond, but through the 50s he had an all-mahogany Kay flat top with a Gibson P13 installed in the sound hole:

That guitar is now part of a museum collection in Texas (minus the pickup unfortunately):

The pickup in my harmony has that same HUGE sound. It's a fair bit microphonic and sounds amazing through my tweed deluxe.

Just gotta fix the tone knob and come up with a solution for grounding the strings....

I couldn't afford these Punk Vault 45s when they came out in the late 80s, but got a few of them together yesterday (was outbid on the Crime one, have the Pussy Galore one already) - [edit - sorry for huge img! don't know what happened there...]
