Good to know MIM is not something to shy away from.
Did some digging and found these. Fender Japan did a series of 72 Tele Customs around 2010:

Notice how the switch has been moved with the pots, so three pots, one switch. And there's no bevel on the pick guard.

And Fender USA did a limited run of these, the Fender Special Run 1972 Tele Custom:

There's one for a good price on OSG now, but shipping to Oz kills it.

Found this 78 Custom on Reverb, too, but the price is off the charts:

^ I've played a couple of Nash guitars (a Strat and a Tele) and wasn't impressed. And yeah, they're really expensive for what they are. Plus, I kinda hate "relics". :badteeth:

yeah they def made some rosewood necked tele customs in the mid to late 70's.... here's my 78.... found it in a san jose GC about 10 years ago.. talked em down to $1500 since it had no case! had no idea that they even made these w rosewood necks at the time..

I quite like my Ron Kirn tele. I kinda wonder whether an Ilitch silent single coil system would work well for it, though...
