Any website platform recommendations?

Post by v8v »

Hi all,
I'm looking to get a website up and running again, but this time I'd like to add in some simple ecommerce facilities so that people can purchase straight from the website. Does anyone have a recommendation that they think might be suitable for a very low volume manufacturer of music-related electronics ie. effects and modular synth equipment? I'd like to find something that's easy to use to design some simple clean web pages with a basic ecommerce facility running along side. It would have to be easy to edit to keep up to date, and would need to have trusted ecommerce facilities that have reasonably low fees. Until now I've not done this kind of thing, so any and all advice is gratefully appreciated! Based in the UK here, btw. (not sure if that matters for ecommerce?)

Cheers! - Pete

I personally use the basic Big Cartel, pretty easy to use and enough for my needs.
But maybe you are looking for something with more contents possibility?

A Paypal account and link may solve your problems.

Thanks, I'll have a look at Big Cartel, and also just adding a Paypal shopping cart to a simpler website perhaps.

I am not the biggest fan of Paypal but they do make it easier for people to spend their money.

One of my biggest complaints has been addressed, the time it takes to transfer money from your PP account to your bank account. The three days it originally took was bullshit. They have since cut it to one business day, which is reasonable.

The fees are still questionable in my mind, for large transactions it sucks. You can increase sales with it though.
