Fuzz you just don't jive with
What fuzz circuits just don't float your boat?
For me it's the Zonk....I have a total love/hate relationship with it. With a Strat it just fizzles away barely getting a signal esp when it's cold, with a Les Paul it's ok but I'd rather use a MKI. When it's warm the Zonk comes to life, some excellent tones to be had...but unfortunately it's usually cold here lol.

Alright, I'll play. For me, it's the Mk II. There, I said it: I don't like Mk IIs, or at least I've never found one I can get on with. Love the Mk I - pretty close to the perfect fuzz circuit for me. And I love the 1.5. I also love my Sola Mk IV. But the Mk II has too much low-end for my liking, and no amount of messing with the attack knob or my guitar's volume pot will get me where I want to be. I think I just prefer a thinner sound.

I'm the opposite, don't jive with thin fuzz, zonks, fz-1's and even MKI's just not doing it for me

Doyle Bramhall II gets some pretty FAT sounds with his strat and acid fuzz zonk.
For me, it's gated fuzzes. I think it's coz my main guitar is a mustang, which has weak pickups even by the standards of old single coils, and any gated fuzz is only good for one full-blast tone, and everything else just fizzles out with no sustain. I had a faceless marquis fuzz and it sounded great with humbuckers and is a really lovely looking pedal but just didn't work with my mustang. I have a ss/bs TAFM which I'm having similar feelings about, but that's a fantastic fuzz. It's so textured, it sounds like stacked fuzzes.
There was a time when I'd have said I couldn't get on with ge Fuzz Faces but I know better now.
I just got a Lucifer Rising and it's like nothing else I've ever played with. Cocked wah sounds, fat and boomy with the guitar vol down, then screaming when you roll it up. Perfect stoner rock pedal. I wish I was in the kind of band where I could try it in anger.

If you don't jive with a fuzz, it's the fault of the player not the fuzz. Every fuzz has a potentially winning application.
