Paris suggestions?
Gonna be in Paris for 5 days in December. Never been before. Anyone have any favorites or suggestions of things to do (stuff that doesnt make the normal tourist maps)? Gear/food/drink/etc?

For gear, you want to hit rue de Douai. Whole strip of guitar shops near the Moulon Rouge. These two are the pick of the stores:

I'll have a think about other stuff. It's a fucking great city - you're going to love it, Doctor!

Woodstore : definitely the vintage guitar shop. Not tons of guitars, but nice selection. Julien and Alexis know what they are talking about.HorseyBoy wrote:For gear, you want to hit rue de Douai. Whole strip of guitar shops near the Moulin Rouge. These two are the pick of the stores:

Guitar Collection : Cool vintage guitars, but people here don't really know what they are talking about... bonus : they (try to) sell a fuzz face (BC183ka) + Tem Face for 3800€. I guess those pedals will still be available in December
Other than that, a lot of guitar shop with 21st century's guitars, pedals, drums, etc... spend a few hours there. Rue de Douai and Rue Victor Massé.
1- Gear

You can reach Montmartre from there 20min walk
2 - A restaurant I would consider :
Breizh Cafe
(Two places Le Marais & Odeon)
3- Take a walk in Le Marais around "Rue des Francs Bourgeois" and visit the islands : "ile St Louis" - "Ile de la Cité"
I won't mention what is obvious La Tour Eiffel - La Concorde - L'Arc de Triomphe - Le Louvre (Pyramide)
Etc... Good thing is that Paris is nice by night too

^ Yeah, definitely hit the Marais as Raf suggests. While you're there, grab a felafel from L'As du Fallafel: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L%27As_du_Fallafel
Don't let the picture of Lenny Kravitz on the wall put you off - best felafel I've ever had. Lots of great Jewish bakeries in that part of the Marais, too. Just a really cool part of town.
In terms of shopping, Paris has everything so it depends what you're looking for. Some great record stores all over. Try these links for starters:
https://www.timeout.com/paris/en/shopping/music-shops
https://theculturetrip.com/europe/franc ... ith-vinyl/
And don't forget the gardens. Paris has some really beautiful green bits. I really like the Tuileries Garden: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuileries_Garden
And the Luxem, bourg Gardens are awesome: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jardin_du_Luxembourg
Great street art/grafitti and places to eat around Belleville, too!

At the Marche aux puces there was an electronic junk shop full of all sorts of weird and wonderful stuff. I think it was called Les docks de la radio but it closed down a few years ago. However, somebody recently told me that it might have re-opened, maybe somebody local would know :)

Cool, I’ll be there for the second time around Xmas. I scored some Dutronc and Gainsbourg 7” for cheap at a bouquinistes stall near Notre Dame along the Seine. I’d spend some time walking along the stalls if you’re interested in vintage vinyl.
I’m also looking for some less obvious places in the city to visit as I went to most of the touristy places last year, so thanks to all who chime in.
