They were a band that divide opinion, you either loved them or hated them and he loved that, for me they have that classic spiky northern Sound like Joy Division etc, great band and a proper legend

Spent many nights listening to Peel sessions when I was a wee un - quite often featuring The Fall.
Mark E Smith was punk as fuck. Totally wired.
