The MKI sounding rather nice there!
I hear it as Ant just generalising things in to a nice lil sentence for simplicity sake.

Well we’ve speculated here that the ff was a rip off but if.. and I say IF a prototype was sent to them ... did Sola get a commission from the design borrowing or are Arbiter Rob dogs?! Jus sayin

Maybe it's Arbiter borrowing from Sola Sound borrowing from Vox borrowing from a Mullard or related book?

Without any backing it sounds a bit like a Gary Hurst comment to me.
Sorry, but the Mullard book thing just doesn't cut it for me with this one. Yeah, I'm sure that's where the basic circuit is originally from, but fuzzes are set up against any good design practices and the parts values were chosen to bring out these non-idealities. Parts values in the Fuzz Face and MK1.5 are so close to identical that it can't be a coincidence. I'd like to know if there's something more to support this claim, or if it's just iffy sales talk.

Aye min, I ken fit yer saying like.
It's obvious they just took a Vox Distortion Booster or a MKI.5 and stuck a face on it.
Earliest sighting of one is Jimi in Germany in December 1966 or so?

So many timetravellers have become interested in this that they needed to invent LSD in order to cover their tracks
