Pick-ups for Telecasters

Post by Gemma Thrush »

Brothers and Sisters, Boys and Girls:

I have a MIJ telecaster from the late 80s.

I am considering replacing the pick-ups - they're OK but
I could do with something that drives fuzz pedals a bit more.

I know precisely bugger all about replacing pick ups so would welcome any suggestions...

I have a Seymour Duncan Vintage Broadcaster in the bridge of my Fender Japan Tele, I like it with fuzz very much.

check out The Creamery - https://www.creamery-pickups.co.uk

The guy is great to deal with. If you look at his website and choose a set you like he will then wind them to your spec/description. I upgraded a Tele a few years ago and totally loved his Pups. he's UK too :tu:

Another guy is Ash ( UK ) oil city pickups.
His Telecaster pickups are reasonably priced and he’s a cool dude to deal with.

I like Bare Knuckles, and they're based in the UK
Don Mare is also awesome, makes great pickups, but in the US.

Seymour Duncan is the easiest and can’t really go wrong with.

I have a Lollar 52 set with a 5% overwind. Sounds great and is him cancelling in the middle position. I swapped the pots for values a little less bright can’t remember right now.

My #1 fuzz machine is a Baja Tele loaded with BKPs, a Flat '50 in the bridge, and a Flat '52 in the neck.
