Congrats on your J. You have quite a collection of great amps. You've got 5E3 on my brain now. I've cured myself of this affliction once before. Must...resist...

Thanks man.
Yeah I don’t really know how I ended up here myself.
I was always a Marshall man. Looking for those British Invasion/60s tones.
After watching a blues doc on BBC4 about 10yrs ago little by little I slowly drifted into the older amps.
When they’re working haha they sound better than anything modern I’ve played.

Congratulations!
I've been eyeing those for a long time too. It will be interesting to get your take on it.

My impressions so far :

To me it’s not what I’d call boutique.
Boutique to me are the Carr amps, Toneking and the like.
Great sounding amps by the way!
These lazy amps to me are more like the real deal.
Mine is the new J10LC which is 10 watts large cabinet.
The large cab is the same size as the J20. It’s pretty much the same dimensions as my Gibson’s.
My Gibson’s are darker in comparison.
The J has amazing cleans. Almost blackface. Crazy.
Turn it up and it gets gritty.
Haven’t had chance to turn it up much but have booked a session in at the local studio in a few weeks to crank it.
It’s the same tube layout as a deluxe and the mid boost switch is great.
A guitar mag said switching in the mid switch was almost like going from a 12ax7 to a Octal pre amp tube and I totally get that reference. It’s warmer and more thicker in tone. Sounds great. The bass switch is great for adding bass at home levels.
The Vac attenuator is more like a crank the amp to your sweet spot and shave a bit of volume off. I wouldn’t say it like a Ironman attenuator per se.
How useful it’ll be... I don’t know.
The Celestion blue is a welcome addition. I love celestion alnico’s. The Jensen’s really suit my Gibson’s as they’re a little brighter and give that authentic 50s tone but the celestion blue mixed with a Mullard ecc83 in V2 still sounds so tweed. I’ve recently put a GE 5751 black plate in V1 and at present prefer that to the 12AY7.
