@2guests Not really sure what point you're trying to make here? Have priests abused alter boys. Yes. Have women abused men before. Sure. What we're talking about here is the systemic misogyny that is prevailing in the entertainment industries (among other places). You bringing up other examples of abuse that doesn't follow that specifically doesn't negate anything.

I don't belive the narrative that men are more likely to abuse women. Females are sexual predators against females. Males are sexual predators against males. Here are two more examples from the news this morning. How could humans even think about doing this to each other? Evil is everywhere.

Redeyflight, I am not trying to negate anything. I am saying that it is not about misogyny. It is about sexual preadators. My first attachment examples were entertainment industry orientated. Then church oriented. The last two examples were additional church and political examples that just happened to be in today's news headlines.

Sexual preadators are the problem...it is not entertainment industry specific. It's the prevalince of acceptance of sexual preadators that I can't understand.

This is a very serious discussion about sexual predators. Abuse is not acceptable by anyone upon anybody. I get riled up reading about it. We don't get into subjects like this very often. Sorry to get so serious about it here. It's not really the right place to discuss it. This is a real problem that extends beyond this forum. However, each of you have demonstrated to be very intelligent and experienced in dealing with issues beyond the forum's reach. That's why this place is so fantastic!

It’s constructive to talk about these issues. It moves the conversation forward. Everyone can be better. I understand your perspective about sexual predation, but I think your dismissal of misogyny is misguided. Approaching this from the perspective that ‘all people prey on others and abuse others’ diminishes the experiences of women who percentagewise are victimized in greater numbers than any of the examples you provided. Here is a website with statistical data on sexual abuse broken down situationally and by gender: https://www.nsvrc.org/statistics.

Here's a website with US Centers for Disease Control study info, that says boys experience Sexual Abuse at the rate of 1 in 6... and that Sexual Abuse in boys is underreported.

https://1in6.org/get-information/the-1-in-6-statistic/

I say, why make it a contest? It's all horrible.
