Kirkland Audio Electronics Solarice Overdrive

Post by daCod »

Endless tones from slight overdrive to full on ferocious fuzz.
knob and toggle switch noodling good times.

sounds kind of boomy because, well it was. running both the DR103 and BALLS NOiR at good volume & good vibrations :stomper:

Level, tone, gain and feedback (lower right). It's a negative feedback control. Subtle but noticeable, and kinda does 2 things : As it is turned down it tightens the low end , and also lowers the gain. As it is turned up , Gain increases and things loosen up. again subtle but very effective .

The switch on the left is a clipping selector switch .. in the down position is Silicon , which is more compressed saturation. In the up position is mosfet/germanium combo which is more open and very responsive to pick attack .

The switch on the right is a 3 way switch , that changes signal capacitors introducing various ranges of frequencies to be clipped .. This also affects the amount of signal that hits the final part of the circuit I.e more gain :)
In the low position will be Mid frequency , low - Mid gain overdrive. middle position introduces a little more bass as well as added gain .. Top position is FULL ON .. super thick , compressed and splatty type fuzz tones .. So basically this thing legitimately goes from mild to wild. From extremely sexy bluesy dumble-ish overdrive tones to Rich , thick nasty spongey fuzz tones . AND still retain the ability to control gain AND retain clarity with just the guitars volume control . Loads of fun !

Well done, sir. Great demo of a complex pedal.

Looks to be a Swiss Army knife dirt box, and a great sounding one at that. I'm sure many of the folks here will be hunting one of these down.
