This should satisfy your query. :coffee:
BJF wrote:Hi there,
The Sparkle Face I wanted to make with more modern germanium transistors and for a close to linear design that would eventually overload and in that making a sound from seemingly clean to heavy fuzz and doing that gradually- there are of course some interesting ’odd' things that would then be dialed out, such that would be viewed as the sound of fuzz and that make sound gate and spit and duck- while I in later years enjoy such things too I could think of circuits to more fully explore the noises.
BJF wrote:For the Sparkling Faces that I made for this thread I have set bias with AC signal sine wave with Saturation control fully counterclockwise to allow near linear operation when signal is below clipping threshhold and so onset of distortion is gradual and gradually increasing. This setting allows for also a type of distorted sound that I have heard on many recordings with Hendrix and wondered how he got it as it somewhat sounds like a fuzz but also somewhat like distortion....
To my ear these transistors lend themselves well to this type of sounds

This is a modern design though so it has standard polarity DC inlet and a pilot LED and it’s true bypass and is housed in a typical floor pedal format like Hammond 1590B.
At your service

^^ The PCB is one they use for bearfoot that he just built the pedal on. It's not a PCB that was designed for this pedal.

He has a knack of shrouding things in blanket of technical mumbo jumbo that many of the readers will understand fuck-all about. :oldlol:
I see how he found many words for telling that the fuzz will clean up and brighten as you turn your guitar volume down. I can't quite tell if his style is being educational or just pompous.
