Sonic VI- JEN Harmon Booster clone

Post by jerms »

got this sweet box from Sonic... his take on the JEN Harmon Booster with an added mid boost switch.... this sounds nearly identical to my original Harmon Booster.... the original is a tad more saturated at full attack, but other than that it's spot on!!! plus the mid switch really adds a nice fullness to the sound... sort of like a cross between a ts-9 and a big muff.... awesome fat fuzzy overdrive!!! :crackjam: thanks again Sonic!! :tu:

yeah i know!!.... the Harmon is kind of like an overdrive with a big muff tonestack at the end... and the mid boost really helps fatten this thing up! :tu: it really sounds good!! i'll try to get some clips up soon.

your jimrite awaits!! :hihi:

I've got a Ge Danrite on my breadboard right now. :badlove: I've got an AC125 in Q1 with an Hfe of 379! It's a monster.

Here's a pic of Jim's beside a purple one I made for myself. I used a push-pull pot for the mid-boost rather then the toggle switch that I used in JIm's.
It's more aggressive than a TS-9, but that's the Big Muff part I reckon. Circuitwise there's not really anything else out there that I know of that's just like it.
I'll have a couple more of these for sale later this month. After this week I've got three weeks off work and I plan on building lots of stuff (including my first tube amp  ).

Great looking pedals!

I'm not familiar with this circuit, but I like the description.

Both of those builds look really great!! This is the first that I have heard about this circuit. It sounds really interesting.

Those look beautiful...loves the idea of a nastier ts-9 with the smooth muff tone...I wanna hear what this one sounds like!

Check the last page of the thread linked to above to see my video. The sound is pretty bad, recorded with my digital camera and its tiny tiny microphone and then compressed by youtube. It's a very 70's sounding overdrive imo.
