MK11 works, but wont work bypassed

Post by akosbev7757 »

Hello, I built up a few MK11's and two of them work, but will not work when bypassed, only works with the fuzz on. I have never had this problem before, and am hoping someone will have an idea of what I am doing wrong.

could be the wires are reversed on one side of the switch? Or a faulty switch maybe.. I would check the switch wiring and continuity as I have had new switches fail on a build before..

Thanx for the reply, but I think it has something to do with the jacks. I say this because, two pedals are doing the same thing. I am using the plastic Cliff type jacks, and the pedal didnt work until I connected both sides of the jack. Does this mean anything to you?

By the way, I am a big fan of all the different pedals and mini amps you have made. Some of the wiring you do is brilliant!

Sadly I am not the mighty Steve of Pigdog - just a lucky owner of one of his pedals! Hopefully one day my wiring will look like his, but unfortunately I doubt I will! :drool2:

not sure what you mean about connecting both sides of the jacks, but if its working on effect and not bypass, I think it would be more likely that its the switch... Maybe one of the veteran builders will have more advice..

Are you hooking up the ground lug from both plastic jacks to each other? (as unlike metal ones, they wont be grounded by just making contact with the enclosure).

As Laundromat says Photos = troubleshooting win!

Grounding shouldn't affect the bypass.

Just thinking about difference between the Cliff and Switch-craft as they seem to be the common factor her.........making no assumptions about how the switches are wired.
