Ibanez wau fuzz question?

Post by TheRareLord »

Hey everyone,
I've been looking all over the net for this answer but can't seem to find a definitive one! :bangs head:

So I thought i'd better ask the experts :crackjam:

What's the fuzz in the Ibanez fuzz wau? Is it the standard fuzz? Fy6??

I'm talking about the model with the name plate that matches the standard fuzz. Thanks in advance for your help :marx:

It's the Standard Fuzz.

Although very similar to an FY-6 circuit it has it's own thing going on. I love my Standard Fuzz. Top three fuzz for me.

If you're talking about his one, it's the Standard Fuzz with a crappy transformer wah.

Just like Shin-Ei the wahs are terrible. The positive thing is that you can get a Standard Fuzz without paying full price.

Is there much of a difference between the Standard Fuzz and an FY-6? I'm tweaking an FY-6 circuit at the moment, but might try the Standard if it's worth it.

I think the tone switch on the Wau fuzz is slightly different to the Standard fuzz. Likewise the tone switch on the Standard is slightly different to the Superfuzz along with the Jfet replacing the first two transistors in the Superfuzz, but that makes no audible difference to my ears. FY6 as far as I know is a straight copy of the Superfuzz so will be slightly different to the Standard but really not much at all.

are there any companies out there that are making a standard fuzz clone? I've instantly fallen in love with it and now i'm cursing the fact it won't fit on my board
