planning + plotting = Good Fuzzy Sounds
I have spent a lot of time thinking about a future pedal business in the past few months, building prototypes and enclosures and doing some biz planning, getting a domain name, website etc. Not up and running yet, but the plan is to make weird old fuzzers, mostly pre 1970 germ circuits - early experiments, hobby mag circuits and variations /mashups sharing the raw early fuzz vibe, but not pedals that other people are doing. I have 4 or 5 designs, am building up my parts stash. The first enclosure mockup is now done and things are starting to happen, though I'll have less time to spend on it now that I am working again. I won't be launching for a while yet but here are a few things I've been doing. I've been sharing on Instagram, but thought it was worth a thread here too...
this is a '68 hobby mag circuit that has more of a '62 approach, hence the name - I was going to try to use more recycled enclosures like this, but they are hard to find and limiting.
I decided to make my own boxes, based on the Orpheum/Manny's style - this is the first attempt, just a rough mockup. All the first wave of pedals will be called Bad this or Bad that. Still deciding on graphic options and looking for cool knobs.

Will start doing some videos soon too

Yep, all looking very cool, Simon! And it's great that you're following your love of weird/more obscure fuzzers to carve out your own space.

Re: planning + plotting = Good Fuzzy Sounds
I'm starting work again today so things are slowing down again, but it's on the horizon :)
Lockdown and furlough have given me time to spend hours looking for the best deals on those knobs, for example, and just time for thinking and messing around.
Spent yesterday trying to combine two early Japanese fuzzers, the germ version of the FY-2 and the 2nd version of the YF-2 Yack (with the output cap switch) but I don't have the right transistors... should probably concentrate on what I've got already, but thought it would be cool to have US, UK and Japanese circuits.

Thanks for the interest! Been playing with the YF-2 for a few days. There’s a version that Davey has with output cap switching but the options are at the two extremes in sound/volume terms, I’ve changed the values so they are closer together, but could give the option to choose your own combo by leaving them socketed.

video demo, prototype of Bad Moon = germ YF-2 - the change in sound with the cap switch isn't v obvious on this recording...
