Added the metal Balance/expander/tone label to the new builds (if you have one of the old ones without this, just PM me and I will post you one out :tu: )

Musoo (Chinese) custom kit with semi-hollow body and big neck, took forever for them to make it but it eventually arrived end of Jan, just before Corona got serious. Not perfect (pickup routes too big, wtf), but the important things (neck + weight) were good, and I was sick of waiting, so I accepted it as delivered. I got this one to replace the older heavier one behind it. Pickups are now out of phase and it has a Freeway 6-way switch, for series/parallel switching and Esquire 'Eldred mod'-style cap option on the bridge pickup - a '50s Kay kleenex box unit in a dogear P90 cover. The neck pickup is a '50s wind Lollar which was a bit bright, so put a nickel cover on it - much better (might spray the cover black? dunno). The wraparound is an orig '53-4 'thin ear' type.

Anyway it sounds great and weighs about 6 pounds. Happy!

a slightly odd top carve, no? [edit it is symmetrical, just looks off in this light] is this typical of any particular period? don't know much about LPs apart from Juniors

Looks really good! I’d leave the neck pup cover as is. Adds to the custom look.

I posted about it a while ago when it was forming but this is the result of the charity run I did for the Electrical Audio forum. This is the second year i've done it so it may be an annual thing now. For this one a Muff-style circuit is the basis. The tone control has been changed and is very not Muff. No mid scoop, more like a treble roll off. The gain is set up a bit lower, more like a Russian muff, with lower threshold, smoother clipping. All of that is wrapped in a wet/dry blend circuit that helps it play better with lower register instruments. 30 units made, with $1500 in proceeds sent to cancer research charities.
