1966 power? hmmmm

Post by robjrussell »

i just scored a 66 from sickle (thanks again!) and have noticed that it only runs on battery.
the main page says a zinc battery sounds best.

is there a reason it only runs on battery's? would it be totally unwise to try and mod it to take power?
also, because it's runs off battery does that mean i need to unplug everytime i'm not using it?
all input is appreciated.

:D
so how much time does 1 normally get on a carbon zinc pedal?
so closing the circuit basically means whether the pedal is engaged or not - it is drawing the same power?

yeah. Your pedal is constantly on if you have a cable in the input jack. It will last a long time and you'll notice how the fuzz changes its character when the battery gets low. Don't mod the fucking pedal please. You want a modern pedal or a 1966?

TMI..

Not sure if its drawing the same current when not in use, but these are pretty simple circuits that don't carry anything like the energy demand you'd find in a delay or chorus, for example. I've had several fuzz pedals for years I've used regularly and not had to change batteries in them.
very cool - i don't have any experience with old school fuzzes yet. any particular batteries that people dig? or just zinc

yep, grab the green cells from downstroke! theyre amazing, and don't worry, if you unplug the input jack everytime you stop your practicing it'll last for months!
