Red Rooster Power Supply?

Hello,

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good power supply for the Red Rooster. I bought mine in 2008, and f'n love it, but it chomps batteries and the amount of fuzz drops off pretty quick once the 9v gets low.

thanks in advance,

Shouldn't be using batteries that quickly -- are you unplugging when not in use? Think I've had the same battery in mine for a year.
Works fine off a onespot/PP2 type power supply though.

(I'd be kinda worried if it was producing fuzz in the first place seeing as it's a treble booster :hihi: )

I might be wrong, but isn't it +9V in opposite to -9V (like most pedals)?

I think so, so it'll work as long as you don't daisy chain it.
PP2+ comes with a reverse polarity adapter too.

It will go through more batteries if it's one of the RRs with an LED but it shouldn't eat through them like a delay or anything.

If your RR is from 2008 it probably has a NPN transistor, which means you can use a regular, negative-ground power supply and daisy chain if you want to.

The "chicken head" ones without an LED and the newer ones are PNP (+ ground) so they can cause problems when daisy chaining.

thx for the reply. Honestly, I usually don't unplug it entirely from the signal chain when I'm done (lazy)...which I agree drains it faster. I heard good things about the onespot. I'll try that now that I know it's +9 and PP2+ has a reverse polarity adapter. That's the info I needed.

And oh yeah - that's true, it's not a fuzz...my technical prowess rears its beastly head again!

Thanks,
Yomaha

I just saw this message. Mine has the LED and the round knobs (no chicken heads).

Not to thread jack, but I just got a brand new Red Rooster from Downstroke. I really like it so far, but I don't wanna blow it up, so should I use the reverse polarity cable or a regular one? Thanks!
