Thanks!

Not a Dallas 30, but a Dallas extension speaker, with a lovely Celestion G12 in it. In the early days of uk ebay I got a Shaftesbury branded Dallas 30 with a pair of G12 extension speakers for about £50. The amp was ok, not great, internal speakers were gone when I got it and I spent a lot of effort to reinstate the orig EMI elliptical speakers and when I did I promptly blew them! I put 8" Celestions in it, but eventually sold it. I sold one of the extension speakers (to Stu), and kept the other.

Ha! I absolutely love that website!
Such a cool looking amp, presumably pretty loud with a GZ34 rectified double EL34 power section? I like the way they separated the power and preamp sections (I think Selmer did this on a few of their old designs too). Overdrive warning light? - I love it!
Shame you never really got to enjoy it fully restored. I have a 3 ohm 10" elliptical speaker (Celestion alnico) in my '59 Selmer TV8 and it sounds really nice, surprisingly good bass response and very sweet but I fear it will be extremely difficult to replace if I kill it which apparently can be easy enough to do. The old elac ellipticals seem to be easier to find on the bay, but I have some puncture repair kit handy in case I tear the cone...
Fab - thanks for linking that! :tu:
