Last week started with the arrival of Jerms MKI #35.

Apologize in advance for no pics, my camera is down, but wanted to give some respect to the man for building a serious pedal. I couldn't be happier with the sounds from this beast!

Super quiet/ noise free but out of control fuzztone that seems to be desperately clawing to get out of your speaker. The sound of a sustained note evolves in a really engaging way, which makes me want to hold more and play less... but then the harmonics/ palm muted tone/ kick ass high end make it tough to hold back. Great note definition in chords for how insane and nasty it gets. EQ is righteous and cuts. Gated nature makes for awesome clipped staccato rhythmic stuff. Interesting to work with that and feel out where to set up guitar-volume-wise; no delicate playing with the MKI. It wants you to dig in. Even spent a half hour with the attack down/guitar volume back working the low three strings playing gated nintendo-like 8-bit melodies and bass lines with a single tap of delay mixed 50-50. Played it for many hours this week and freaked out some young students and their folks coming in for lessons for sure.

ahh this jerms pedal isn't all that good. All hype! I'd go with one of those digitech mk1 clones. Those sound fine. You won't be able to tell the difference. And the digitech one is only about 40 bucks! Huge savings!! I bought 6 of them just to prove my point!

Yes, I have to admit, I cut my teeth on old Boss pedals but stupidly sold them when digital and transistors amps became the next best thing. I vividly remember the music store salesman telling me"...you don't want that, it uses tubes, those are going to be obsolete in awhile. Everyone is going to transistors now..." I ended up with a tweed Bassman for $75 because it was all I could afford at the time How funny is that!?
